New to Wheat Ridge?

God’s Word is divided into two great teachings: The Law, which primarily acts like a mirror in order to show us our sin, and The Gospel, which is the Good News of our salvation won by the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

We believe

  • the Bible to be the divinely inspired Word of God.
  • that the Article of Justification (that people cannot be justified before God by their own strength, merits, or works, but are freely justified for Christ’s sake, through faith when they believe that they are received into favor and that their sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake) is the key to understanding Scripture.
  • there is only one true God who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct persons in one divine being (the Holy Trinity).

  • a person is not saved by their works, but only through faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
  • that Jesus Christ is true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary.
  • that Christ died on the cross for the sins of all people on Good Friday, and then rose bodily from the grave on Easter morning; thus assuring all who believe in Him eternal life.
  • that Baptism is a sacrament intended for all people (babies and adults alike), which works forgiveness of sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe in Jesus as their Savior.
  • that in the Sacrament of the Altar, we receive the true body and blood of Christ for the forgiveness of our sins in, with, and under the bread and wine.
  • that there is only one Christian Church on earth made up of true believers in Christ.

Our Affiliation

Wheat Ridge Evangelical Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. As a member of this church body, we are united through a common confession of faith in which God’s Word (the prophetic and apostolic teachings of the Old and New Testament) is the only true rule, source, and norm for doctrine and life.  And we fully subscribe to the Lutheran Confessions found in the Book of Concord, because we believe that they are a correct exposition on God’s holy Word.

We are saved by grace alone (sola gratia) through faith alone (sola fide) for the sake of Christ alone (solus Christus), a truth revealed to us in Scripture alone (sola Scriptura).

The word “Synod” in The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod comes from Greek which means “walking together.”  Though diverse in their service, our congregations hold to a shared confession of Jesus Christ as taught in Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions, or The Book of Concord. The Book of Concord contains:  The Three Ecumenical Creeds, The Augsburg Confession, The Apology of the Augsburg Confession, Luther’s Small and Large Catechisms, The Smalcald Articles, The Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, and The Formula of Concord.

Rev. Elisha Lietzau

Rev. Lietzau has been a strong supporter of the March for Life. Below are a couple of speeches he made at the State Capitol in Santa Fe, New Mexico speaking to the fact that each life should be viewed and treated with dignity from the moment of conception to the time of natural death—each being a gift from God.

Lucy Simons

Church Secretary

While she has a degree in music education and was a former music teacher for a small, private Christian school, she has experience in office administration as well. She used her office skills to help pay for her college education.

Lucy, her husband, Alan, and two boys, Henry and George have been members of Wheat Ridge Lutheran for a few years. Lucy is involved in the church choir and the LWML. In her spare time, Lucy enjoys bullet journaling, playing the flute, arranging music, and making Chrismons.

Planning for Your Visit

Dear friends and neighbors,

We would love to invite you to join us this Sunday for worship at Wheat Ridge. You’re truly welcome here whether you’re a longtime member, visiting for the first time, or simply curious about what we believe and how we worship.

Sunday worship is a beautiful time when we gather around God’s Word and Sacraments. We hear the Gospel proclaimed, sing hymns of praise, lift our voice in prayer, and receive the Lord’s Supper as a gift of grace and forgiveness from Christ Himself. It’s an opportunity to receive the gifts of our Lord, be encouraged by fellow believers, and reminded of God’s unending love for you in Christ.

Service begins at 10:00 am. We also offer Adult Bible Study and Sunday School for children and teens at 8:45am.

Come as you are—dress comfortably, bring your family, and know that you’ll be greeted with genuine warmth and kindness.

We’re looking forward to meeting you and worshiping together in the presence of our gracious God. If you have any questions beforehand, feel free to reach out—our pastor and members are happy to help!

May God bless your week and draw you near to Him this Sunday.
